One of our favourite projects – working with the EPP Group (the European People’s Party Group is the largest political group of the European Parliament) always brings new and fun challenges.

For the 2021 installment of the Europe Days week the Events team had a challenge to make everything COVID lockdowns-friendly, but still have any participants enjoy themselves, although from afar.

They planned a couple of fun quizzes and 3 competitions (Essay, Art, Photo) aimed at people of different skill level and different age groups.
To make things more interesting they wanted to have a cookery show with some of the MEPs, which went well and was accompanied by a recipe from each country. The initial plan was to have separate pages for each recipe, but Gerry suggested we revise this idea. This was necessitated by the very tight deadline and the fact we had to build a multilingual website in all of the official EU languages (which are 24).

This would have led to over 900 separate pages being created, which would have been an extremely time-consuming and expensive endeavour and we wanted to spare our clients. As such we suggested we create instead a lovely PDF cookbook for each recipe, which will be in the country’s native language, as well as in English, so anyone can follow along. It’s safe to say that this was a resounding success and the cookbook looked great.

Additionally, we set up separate emails for each competition’s submissions to go into, subsequently organising and exporting the entries for the judges’ ease; we built the quizzes, including images to make them more visually interesting, we later archived the no-longer-relevant pages and built ones to announce the winners.
Separately, we set up the website and the hosting from the get go, to ensure any issues are caught on time and resolved as possible.
